As childminders recognise the need to offer a professional service, enhancing their own business, the Toolkit gives the support required. Including a variety of different tools to enable childminders to streamline their business, this CD-Rom allows for a bespoke and efficient service.

SCEDU’s long term relationship with the Sheffield City Council enabled the creation of tools which were needed to provide this missing provision for childminders. The Toolkit works hand in hand with Local Authority Network Coordinators and does not replace the business support offered across the sector, only enhances it. Currently Sheffield City Council contract with SCEDU to offer 2 hours of free training to new childminders, who then receive the Toolkit at the end of the training.

Although the Business Toolkit for Childminders is offered to individuals, SCEDU is also able to re-brand the toolkit to offer to Local Authorities in order for Councils to ‘sell on’ or ‘hand out’ to their own area childminders as part of induction or start up procedures, as is currently the case in Sheffield.
